Each year the summerfestivities hit my hometown of Nijmegen like a nuclear bomb. Nearly one and a half million people descend upon our city near the river to party and enjoy music.

In 2010 I was asked by VPRO Broadcasting Company to film special acoustic sessions in the oldest stone building in the country for their music website www.3VOOR12.tv

So in the span of 5 days I shot 15 acoustic sessions with these artists:

I shot the sessions on two camera's, a Sony HVR-Z1E and a Sony HVR-Z5E, both in SD 25p mode. The sound was recorded into the HVR-Z1E from two Neumann KM-143 microphones. Lighting was primitive, but effective.

Editing was done during the nights and on two additional days afterwards. Not all sessions are online yet, but hang in there and we'll get them all up here!

Monotonix video online!

Remember when I said that I would find some time to get the Monotonix live set at the Nijmegen Summer Festival 2010 online? Well, I finally got it done!

It was madness! These Israeli guys rock out, freak out, go completely nuts. Check it out:

Working on Monotonix footage

MonotonixI spent tonite working on the Monotonix footage. It's quite long, nearly half an hour and the sound isn't the greatest, but I'll figure out a way to make sure the madness of the performance comes across.

Without giving too much away, let's just say that Monotonix' trademark move to perform their gig off-stage was executed with fervour and filmed at very close range. My own life hung in the balance as I ventured into the moshpit with the camera to get the shot, the camera's life was at risk when I got so close to the frontman that his sweat nearly burned through the lens.

I need to find some time to finish it. It's coming up soon. I promise...

The Crookes

The nicest rockers you'll ever meet: Russell, Daniel, Alex and George! I was a bit sceptical when they were setting up for their gig, but as soon as the first notes were played I was sold!

You wouldn't know it from looking at them, but they are brimming with talent. This is pure britpop / rock at its' finest. The Crookes are a very nice mixture of The Smiths, Pulp and a hint of Blur. George's voice is a great vehicle for the stories recounted in a smooth Brit accent.

The Morning Benders

The Morning Benders playing a wonderful acoustic set. I felt like I was in California, chilling in the sun. Laid back vibes! =)
